Bijdendijk has been a coffee importer for over 180 years and sources its coffee from all over the world.
About the project
Many ESG issues — both environmental and social — come into play in the coffee supply chain. These issues range from deforestation and CO₂ emissions to biodiversity and fair wages. Bijdendijk asked 2BHonest to identify the most important sustainability issues through a dual materiality analysis and supply chain risk analysis, and then to develop a sustainability strategy.
Work
We began by conducting a supply chain analysis to identify the greatest risks related to the environment, human rights, and labor rights. We then determined the most important sustainability issues by conducting a dual materiality analysis and identifying data gaps based on the CSRD requirements.
Using this information, we developed an action plan to address the data gaps and comply with CSRD requirements. We also focused on making our procurement practices more sustainable. Finally, we developed a comprehensive sustainability strategy for Bijdendijk.
Result
Thanks to this project, Bijdendijk now has a clearly defined sustainability strategy and an action plan to meet CSRD requirements. This enables Bijdendijk to focus its efforts on minimizing its environmental and social impact throughout the coffee supply chain.
We have now been working with great pleasure alongside the 2BHonest team for over a year, and they have guided us through this process. Thanks to the knowledge we’ve gained, we will be able to continue expanding our sustainability strategy, targets, and KPIs on our own in the coming years.
