Increasingly, organisations are required and motivated to make their climate impact transparent. This shift is driven not only by legislation such as the CSRD, but also by growing expectations from customers, shareholders and employees. A carbon footprint provides insight into an organisation’s total greenhouse gas emissions.
A comprehensive carbon footprint covers Scopes 1, 2 and 3. It goes beyond energy and fuel consumption by also incorporating supply chain emissions, including purchased goods and services, and business activities such as business travel, transport and waste processing. Gaining a clear picture of these emissions forms the foundation for responsible sustainability policies, reliable reporting, and effective reduction plans.
At 2BHonest, we ensure that this calculation is not only accurate, but also genuinely valuable for your organisation. We translate complex standards, such as the GHG Protocol, into a clear process with reliable data and actionable insights. This enables your organisation to identify its main emission drivers and manage them effectively. Our approach is pragmatic, audit‑proof and always tailored to your specific context.
The result: a solid foundation for climate reporting and a concrete starting point for a future‑proof sustainability strategy.
Get started
We begin by clearly defining the scope of the carbon footprint: which activities, processes and supply chains do we include? Together, we identify the key sources of emissions and develop a measurement methodology that aligns with the GHG Protocol and your organisation. We create tailored templates for data collection, so that teams know exactly what data is required. This provides a structured and repeatable basis for a reliable footprint.
During the calculation phase, we actively support the collection and verification of all relevant data, including supply chain emissions. We perform the complete CO₂ calculation and ensure full transparency around every assumption and emission factor used. The results are presented both visually, through clear graphs and dashboards, and in a format that can be directly used for reporting. This provides a clear, reliable and audit‑proof overview of your organisation’s climate impact.
We don’t just share the findings with the project team. We actively engage the entire organisation. Each department gains insight into its contribution to the overall CO₂ emissions, which strengthens involvement and creates a sense of ownership. This approach ensures that climate policy moves from theory to practical implementation. Based on the results, we provide advice on the next steps and help establish a solid foundation for a realistic and effective CO₂ reduction plan.
Scope 1, 2 and 3 are categories used to clearly organise an organisation’s greenhouse gas emissions. Scope 1 covers direct emissions from sources owned or controlled by the organisation, such as facilities and vehicles. Scope 2 includes emissions from purchased energy, such as electricity. Scope 3 encompasses all other indirect emissions across the value chain. This classification helps identify where emissions actually occur: both within the organisation and throughout its broader supply chain.
The difference between upstream and downstream emissions lies in where in the supply chain the emissions occur. Upstream emissions are those generated before the product or service reaches your own operations, for example through the procurement, production or transport of materials. Downstream emissions arise after your organisation’s own operations, such as during the use of products, waste processing or distribution to customers. In short, upstream emissions are those emitted before your organisation’s activities, and downstream emissions are all emissions that occur afterwards.
The Greenhouse Gas- (GHG) Protocol is the globally recognised standard for measuring and reporting greenhouse gas emissions. It defines how organisations should calculate their carbon footprint and which emission sources must be included. By following this framework, results become comparable, transparent and suitable for reporting under requirements such as the CSRD or SBTi.
